Retail is vulnerable to risk

The retail sector which touches our common lives daily providing all consumer products and one which is intensely vulnerable to risk. The propensity for theft, tampering and unauthorised access exist within the retail sector.

A criminals’ playground

High volume of product, high people concentration, cash exchange, multiple handling points of goods, logistics & reverse logistics are all contributing factors to making this a ‘criminal’s playground’. Enhanced control in the DC (distribution centre), in-store and within on-line shopping channels must be recognised.

Shopper access into a store should provide a positive experience but this is one of the most common weakness areas for criminals, who enter with an item of low value, have it marked by security and switch the marker onto something of higher value. The direct loss to retailers is significant and can easily be minimised with the deployment of simple, clever solutions.

EAM

Enterprise asset management (EAM) in a distributed asset network is an onerous task, but without a clear view of what assets you have, what condition they are in, what their optimum performance should be, who is interacting with these assets, what scheduled maintenance should take place and when these assets should be replaced, the business is exposed to imprudent spend and unjustified profit erosion.
